In a growing mountain town like Steamboat Springs, traditionally designed and styled homes are evolving with the times. Our team at Stel House + Home finds more locals and developers looking to freshen up the look of their homes, updating to a Mountain Modern style. This means that the texture and rustic feelings of a mountain home are applied with modern touches for an ageless look.

A perfect example of this new take on Mountain Modern can be found in Urban Street, a recent project near Casey’s Pond by Stel House and Home. In order to attract young buyers and keep up with the aesthetic of the times while staying true to mountain roots, this project focuses on pairing eclectic pieces with traditional finishes.

The Eclectic Mountain architectural style blends both traditional mountain and modern architectural forms, with rustic materials and raw exposed detailing defining this style. Elements such as reclaimed wood, steel paneling, pops of color and a standing seam metal roof are showcased in the architectural design.

The interior design also seeks to push the boundaries of what it means to live in a mountain town. Our team selected a timeless color palette emphasizing light with touches of warmth, concrete and industrial accents. Building atop of a fresh palette, the interior selection completes the mountain modern style using leather, natural wood, dark metal accents, curated pieces and pops of color. The staged home showcases design possibilities to potential buyers and demonstrates how they can make other homes in the neighborhood their own.

In order to ensure that each home is unique to its owner, Stel House and Home specializes in working closely with clients to provide customization such as collaborating with local artists or curating custom pieces. Our interior designers curate each room and vignette to help clients envision their experience in the space. Here, we selected earthy tones in the kitchen and complemented them with shades of green in the dining room rug, living room pillows and throws. Textures are key when using a natural pallet to give a rich look and feel while experiencing the space.
